Charles was born in Belmar, NJ. He later attended Moorestown High School, Michigan State University, Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton Graduate School and Drew University Graduate School. Between 1942 and 1990, he served as an ordained minister Mercerville, Cranbury, Asbury Park and Haddonfield. His service in the United Methodist Church includes 50 years of leadership in the general church and 28 years as a delegate to the General & Jurisdictional Conferences. Charles has represented and served the church community all over the world. He has served his local Haddonfield community and many regional organizations as well. He continues to advise and provide leadership to many organizations and community leaders.
Lucile graduated from Trenton State College (TCNJ) earning a degree in teaching. She taught 5th Grade in the Cranbury, NJ school district where she was very involved in the local community, including the Cranbury Methodist Church. Lucile had leadership roles in many local and national organizations. She was the first woman to ever to be elected to the school board in Asbury Park, NJ. She was involved with women’s groups on the state and local level, including the United Methodist Women and the Evening Division of the Haddonfield Women’s Club.
Charles and Lucile have spent their entire lives in service to others. They moved to Haddonfield in 1965. Charles saw the desperate needs of our neighbors and helped to bridge the gap between Camden and the surrounding suburbs. He was the driving force in serving the Camden community through organizations such as Respond, State Street Housing, Rotary, United Way and many more. Charles chaired the Board of Trustees at Fellowship House of South Camden, and continues to this day as an advisor to the Board. Faith and family remain the most important to Lucile and Charles, and everyone who knows them has been blessed.
